Raising Pollution Awareness

5E0443F9-4450-431F-936B-08DC43979A0DPollution is one of the many causes of global warming. In an effort to raise awareness to the global issue, I have used several forms of Digital media projects to discuss  the dangers of liter, pollution and celebrating Mother Earth.

Macomb’s Earth Day Festival

Macomb, IL- On April 22 the New Copperfield Book Service, Sullivan Taylor and the Horn Field Environmental Learning Project sponsored the annual Earth Fest.

The celebration started around 9am with a bike parade outside of Gelsosmo’s Pizza.

The event was free  .

Members of McDonough county gathered around Chandler Park to celebrate earth day  with music, pets, activities, socialization and earth exhibits. The event was used as a fun way to bring awareness and promote environmental safety.

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat or light. Pollutants, the components of pollution, can be either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring contaminants. Pollution is often classed as point source or nonpoint source pollution.

Some attendees of the event took some time away from their earthy activities to discuss their environmental concern for the environment and what earth day meant to them.

According to Alante Brooks, “Earth day is a time for people to gather around to help save the environment by recycling and trying to avoid polluting the air”.

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day events in more than 193 countries are now coMultimedia Pacckageordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.

“Earth day is a time for everyone to celebrate mother earth” says Jessie Matias.

Missing Minorities In Washington D.C

I  decided to use my Data visualization project to bring awareness  to the number of missing teens in Washington D.C. Here you see a bunch of tweets about the missing teens by concerned citizens , being made into a Wordle. The words that are the biggest were used the most frequently in the different Twitter post. Most of the missing teens are Black or Latina. Since late December the number of missing teens has tripled in numbers. washington dc
